Stay true to myself.
I am at a crossroads in my life. I’m a widow , both of my children have now left home and I honestly don’t know who I am. I like to keep myself very busy so I don’t have to face truths, and unpick things that I know need addressing with God. These sessions have really challenged me about what core values I hold dear. It also identified that I needed to have purpose and validation from other people. I also have expectations and standards that I expect from others, such as family and church family that are not often met , and leaves me feeling disappointed. This has all stemmed from rejection and loss in my life ,which greatly impacts on my reaction to circumstances. As I progressed through each lesson and meditated on what it meant for me, just giving myself this time to do this course ,I felt like I was a dirty window that was just having its first clean in a long while.
Knowing and Growing
Being a student in “Axx Academy 2022” is a blessing. Learning the lessons through innovative methods and having intensive classes are extremely good. My first module was on ‘formation of self’. I learned it through recorded videos, individual and group sessions. I have learned many new things through these sessions. I would be reflecting on few topics which captured my attention and thoughts more. This first module helped me to understand what is spiritual discipline. I have learned that spiritual disciplines are those personal and corporate disciplines that promote spiritual growth. And the next fascinating topic was ‘my identity’. I understood that I have to ‘know myself’, ‘be true to myself’ as our values cannot be determined by our circumstances and our identity is in Christ. After learning about identity, I moved on to the next topic of ‘values’ which is another crucial element in our day to day lives. I have learned about Christian values and personal values. Last Saturday(12.03.2022), we had an opportunity to attend the intensive classes and it helped me to narrow down my values and focus on the lacking areas.
Mission statement, was the next topic which I enjoyed learning. We all know that mission is the focal point in ministry and I understood that the statement should be positive and precise. This session helped me to refine my mission statement.
Coming to the subject of health and wellness, I know a few things about health and wellness. But being a pastor, I have learned that I should be a role model in health too. I have learned that ‘to do something for God successfully I need to be healthy’. The testimonies are amazing, all the testimonies are encouraging us to be in ministry and get rooted in God. After joining this course, my learning speed has improved I became very much interested in this course. I would also want to tell myself and others that I am very much blessed by the course and the teachers.
Introspection on understanding my Identity
I want to thank everyone who was involved in the making of this course. Thank you so much for helping us do a self-introspection on our lives and helping us discover how our lives can or have been steered by our values, which translate to our convictions and finally become our lifestyle. I enjoyed seeing how our timelines reflected these changes as it has helped me put into perspective as well as make better sense of some of the decisions I’ve taken which knowingly or unknowingly were a reflection of the values/convictions I held but couldn’t well articulate till now. So thank you very much and God bless you all.

The most Challenging part of this course so far
I enjoyed these sessions so much. God’s call your response really challenged me in that I should focus my heart on God’s will and purpose. This session also confirmed and cemented so much that I already knew God was saying to me. I am also now reassured that I indeed did hear God speaking to me and that I don’t have to doubt when He does because He speaks and calls us in different ways. There is no formula or one way that God speaks or calls, as long as we experience the peace of God and recognize His voice and follow His leading we will walk in His Will for our lives.
God's has brought clarity to my Calling
In 2009 I had a sense of God calling me. But I didn’t really understand even the all concept of the Call. Now I understand what it means to be called by God. I can easily differentiate between general and special call. Many thanks to the visionary of this school and to the team of teachers that have taught us.
aligning my calling with Gods plan for the world
This unit really help me to better understanding the calling on my life it also help me to examining if my calling aligns with Gods plan.

God bless you for everything and teaching me the word of God and finishing my course my life will never be the same again
Pastoral Care
I have learnt a lot about Pastoral Care in this course that I did not know before. The task of Pastoral Care is to help people re-frame their lives, in the light of God’s story for the sake of greater freedom and responsibility, the stories we tell whether humorous or divine, mythic or parabolic, order experience, construct meaning and build community. I really love this quote by Herbert Anderson, and I feel it sums up what Pastoral Care truly is. I found it interesting that Pastoral Care backdates to the old testimant. I was told within my church environment that a Pastor is a function, but its more than just being a function in a church, it is a role and a gift. We should be equipping, building up, unifying and maturing our groups and the congregation in the church that we oversee. The gift of a Pastor is a special ability that God gives to certain members of the body of Christ to assume a long term personal responsibility for the spiritual welfare of a group of believers. I have learnt that oversight, authority and responsibility comes with the role of Pastoral Care. Pastoral Care within the church always focuses on people, their health, growth, maturity and relationship with God. Our attitude should be compassion, compassion is a response to seeing a need and inner compulsion of care and concern that motivates us to render assistance when we see the suffering of others. Within Pastoral Care it is fundamental to have people skills, be able to understand who they are as well as help them understand who God created them to be, and understand their needs and what is required of them to reach their full potential.
From my experience versus what I have learnt in this course are completely different. I had no idea about the legislation side of things or the to mandatory reporting and the record keeping principles. Communication skills and understanding a persons characteristics in Pastoral Care is vitally important.
