						Community Chaplaincy Overview
Welcome to UrbanRevs online training! We live in an ever complex and challenging world. Many followers of Jesus and faith leaders are passionately seeking out the ‘how to’ when it comes to seeing Jesus’ kingdom come. At UrbanRevs we are passionate about helping the local church grow every follower of Jesus to be authentic and effective when it comes to living out the kingdom. Whether you’re a protagonist passionate about leading change in local communities or a campaigner stirred in mission to make grace immanent – UrbanRevs will inspire you to genuine influence.
Many people incorrectly disqualify themselves when it comes to serving Jesus in the world they live in. Either, they think themselves not qualified, not suitable, or not authorised. They might say, “That’s not my role…” or “I don’t know how to…” or “I’ll wait for my church to lead the way…” Meanwhile, God’s kingdom and will coming to our community is subsequently disadvantaged. Who the Father, Jesus and the Holy Spirit are and your relationship God.
This course is an introduction to the UrbanRevs Community Chaplaincy training. It is for those who want to become a Community Chaplain. It provides the biblical foundation for the Urban Revs Community Chaplaincy model. It is the introduction to the Level 2 Urban Chaplaincy Certificate.
Who is Community Chaplaincy for
-
UrbanRevs is for every authentic follower of Jesus.
-
It is both a paradigm and a lifestyle wrapped in a simple set of training modules for everybody who eagerly desires to live out the kingdom of God powerfully and effectively in their workplace, their school, club, community, and business. Those who want to understand God, humanity, their place in the world and how it all works together.
-
It’s for people who want to be effective chaplains. Recognised or, unrecognised.
-
In fact, UrbanRevs sees every follower of Jesus as a type of urban chaplain! A community ‘God-person’ – taking responsibility to shepherd their community towards Jesus.
What you will learn
-
You will learn how to take responsibility for your community, to be heart-ready, to listen for meaning, and grow in confidence to pray for and with people effectively. You will learn ‘how to’ invite someone to respond to Jesus.
-
You will learn ‘what to say’, when to declare God’s truth, how to speak to the heart and mind of a person.
-
Finally, you will learn about the pitfalls of serving Jesus in the community – and what to avoid and what to focus on. You will begin to deeply appreciate the 18 guiding principles of community influence that every follower of Jesus and urban chaplain should know for effective ministry and living.

God Gave Me Peace
When I mom died, I was devastated, but I couldn’t grieve like I needed too, because I had to be strong for everyone in the family. When my baby brother died, I carried the a different mind set. I felt that I could have prevented his death or the injury that caused it. After years of counselling, I finally accept that fact that it was God’s will. I prayed for God to spare him, but God’s plan was not my mind and I had to accept his will in that situation. Once I let go and let God, I now have peace of mind, nothing that everything is in God’s control and not mine.
So empowering
I was l looking for a basic course as I am involved in a community drop in coffee morning at my church. I am not sure what led me to finding a course in Australia but I am very pleased that I did it. Yes a major attraction was it was free as I wasn’t prepared to risk my money something that may have been to cerebrally taxing or just not very good. The course was straightforward easy to understand and convinced me that yes even I could serve the people who attend our drop in and using the skills described in the course and inverting patiently in people I could really make a difference in people’s lives. Thank you so much. I have yet to decide whether I take the next course but It is certainly appealing to continue my studies with you
