Acts - Reviews
Eyes opening
I have enjoyed Acts Part 1. It has given me knowledge of what is not so obvious in the Bible. It does not give full accounts of culture, background history, political climate, prejudices, social injustices…etc etc, and nor should it. This has started to open my eyes that there so much more happening behind the scenes and behind the words we read. I have a fuller appreciation of why people act the way they do and what sort of world Jesus and the disciples were living in.
New understanding
The course has opened my eyes to the world Jesus and his disciples were living in and what the disciples were faced with after Jesus ascended. What I have learned has given me new understanding so that when I read the bible I see beyond the words. I also see the cultures, different belief systems, different historical backgrounds, prejudices and so on. I did not know there were different Jewish groups (so different from each other). I have a greater understanding and appreciation of what the early church experienced. I am still blown away by how pure and merciful God’s heart is in choosing the undeserved to change the world and spread the gospel to the Gentiles. This learning gives me greater encouragement that as undeserved as I am, there is a greater purpose for my life and that I am redeemed through Him for Him.
Very Detail
Awsome study on the book of acts showing theological emphases and also Holy spirit revelations. Just awesome seeing how the apostles moved in the power of the Holy Spirit and just being Holy Sprit Led and not led by their own feelings, in some cases. Also for us to carry it on today and getting a brief understanding of sharing the Gospel in a package which is the message Gospel of Grace, Faith, Jesus, and the Kingdom of God.

Grace undeserved
This has helped me learn more about the history of the early church, the challenges they faced and the division within the Jewish community to name a few.
Fascinated and intrigued by the shift in leadership from the original 12 disciples to emergence of other leaders such as Stephen, Barnabas and Saul, where we stop hearing about the original 12. The church looking very different to what it was before.
A great learning and seeing similar parallels in my own life, for e.g. I attended church but was not saved and then reading about Paul who insisted on asking Gentiles (who were believers) if they had received the Baptism of the Holy Spirit or just the baptism of repentance from John the Baptist.
The process is the same i.e. repent, baptism of Holy Spirit and going out to share about Jesus, and the same responses some believe and some do not. I am still blown away that as non Jews, God still sought to save us and picked one so undeserving to do that sharing.
wow
Seeing apostle paul, used to kill Christians and God calls him to be a follower of Christ. Just showing God’s amazing Grace and how paul didn’t look at his circumstances he moved in the Power of God. There’s so much to say just Thankful to God for going more in-depth with the book of Acts.
Acts part 2
This part of the course was interesting with a lot of historical events. The beginnings of the church with all the dramas and pitfalls facing the church members. When reflecting on life in the churches today, there is a parallel between the early church and today’s church. What is the church? who is the church? what have we learnt? why are there so many different
churches with similar beliefs but standing away from other churches.
This causes me to wonder how over the 1000s of years the church, has diverted from the church that was originally set up. I am left with more questions than answers.

Enlighten
This section has given me much light, on practical leadership. Am so grateful
From Leadership comes direction
One can be a pastor or an elder but he might not be a leader.
A leader brings direction and they are strong in their leadership. If you have to be a leader, you have to learn. Leadership has principles. And if its principle is violated or abused, problem will arise in the Church. When we talk about leadership, there are three essential leadership qualities we all must have.
A leader must carry:
-Responsibility
-Authority
-Accountability.
If you live out these qualities, it is going to create a weakness in your leadership or weakness in the Church.
The leader is responsible for whatever happens in the Church.
-Many Churches never grow simply because the leader does not have authority to actually lead the church forward. So we need to have authority to make decisions, choices to move the Church forward. We should not delegate that to someone else, it shoild be the leader that should have that authority.
-As a leader, you are accountable for everything. Accountable when things go right and wrong. You are accountable when it is time to celebrate because God has done some good things but if things are not going so well you are accountable, we have to look at where are we going next?
-As a leader, what are you going to be doing?
-What changes needed to be made for the Church to progress forward?
*How do you govern your Church?
-Is it Autocracy,or Beaucracy or Democracy or Theocracy?
We must know that God is in Charge and he is the Leader of our Churches. Let’s allow the Leasder to lead us (That is Theocracy).
-“When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice..” (Proverbs 29:2).
Leadership
This has changed my personality and understanding who am in ministry

Course Review
It was interesting to learn the formal definition and reasons for Why Theology. I had originally considered theology religious speculation and philosophy. However I have learned that theology is much deeper than that. And teaches provides additional insight into God.
It was interesting to learn about the different types of theology and also how particular ideas theologies were a product of their time and culture. I had no idea that there was so many types. Oh interest to me are; Bibliology & Pneumatology. The study of the Holy Spirit I believe is of particular relevant to today’s Pentecostal Spirit filled Churches.
The various proofs of the existence of God is interesting also.
I found this section of proofs challenging and informative. Ultimately I don’t know if I believe in God (whatever that ultimately is) having read various atheistic materials (Richard Dawkins, Christopher Hitchens, Sam Harris etc) I know that there are various counter arguments for the above. However I do believe that Jesus was Divine and for me personally, even if there was no God (as in the ancient Jewish scriptures) it doesn’t really matter. As Jesus is all we need. Christianity over all religions that I have reviewed is the best of all. Just my personal opinion. I flip-flop from agnosticism believing and agnosticism not believing in God. John Lennox also has various arguments for God’s existence. I suppose whether God exists or not, the Christian Theology (like the other Abrahamic faiths) is more robust if we act with at least the assumption of God’s existence.
The Theology of the Bible, which included a brief of also the non-canonised scriptures as well as the canonised and also the various Councils. This section alone made me realise that Theology is much more vast and complex than I first considered. I also had no idea that there were so many different versions of the Bible. I would like to know more about the trustworthyness of scripture and its infallibly. And why this is taken as a given.
I had previously just accepted the inconsistencies and contradictions in the Bible as cultural telling. IE the Lineage of Jesus to King David has two very different accounts. Or the idea of a flat earth with Angels standing at its four corners for example. It seemed to me, that the inspiration of the Bible being received by man, would by our very fallen nature cause errors in the relying of information from the Holy Spirit. But I don’t know. So happy to be instructed and learn more. Thank you.
I found it interesting the section of angels and the powers of evil. And especially that ultimately even the demons were subjected to Jesus’ authority. I think that says a lot.
Personally I have problems accepting the idea of the idea that Jesus is God. Begotten of God, God’s Son, Divine etc. I can accept. But with Jesus’ by his own words and actions was subject to God. And Jesus himself say that God is greater than Him. The course mentioned that this was only when Jesus was on earth as a human-being. But now that he is in Heaven he is equal to God. But if this is so, then why does Jesus sit at the Right Hand of the Father? My confusion is that, I have not yet seen (for myself) in scripture where it say that Jesus in Heaven is equal to the Father in authority etc. Hints are, that authority has been given to him by the Father. Thus being so, the receiver is not in the same position as the giver. What is given is someone greater in this case. Ie the Father.
Thank you for reading this.

It is by the grace of God that I have to complete this course. Very, very poor internet connection in my country Cameroon. Really, the course has broadened my knowledge on the approach of the gospel with respect to the four gospel writers – Matthew, Mark ,Luke and John.
