Act:Part 2

Acts has given me the green light on what the apostle went through on proclaiming the good news. It has also strengthen my faith on who God is.For really being a follower of christ needs commitment and compassion. It si book that has revealed for me how God speaks, leads and protects his faithful savant. It has opened my spiritual eyes on the Holy Spirit when resting on the apostle and how it lead God’s people. Through this lesson and lectures I have gained a lot of knowledge and experience on proclaiming chrst Jesus.

ACTS

2024-02-10

In fact, this lesson gave me enough knowledge to understand how the church was born, the importance of the Holy Spirit on the church and the power of God over the good of Satan. I also understand that it is in suffering that the church finds strength to expand. Praise be to Jesus Christ who gave himself up and shed his blood to receive his bride which is the church. And we can’t help but praise the apostles who agreed to be wronged so that the gospel could reach all the nations. AMEN!

I learn that “Spiritual warfare is a major thing going on. It is characteristic of the background of Ephesus with their steeped involvement in magic and the Artemis cult and imperial cult “.l understand also that the referenced in Acts 19,is evendence of the significance of Paul’s ministry in Ephesus, so the backlash by silversmiths financially impacted by the downturn of artifacts sale.this means so much to me, my Axx family l learn a lot. Fantastic!!

I thoroughly enjoyed ‘Ancient Israel Explored!’ It was so interesting and I didn’t want it to end! The visual of all the different locations really made the information presented come alive. I had many ‘ah ha’ moments. Hezekiah’s tunnel was exceptional! I found all the little details of the course so interesting that I couldn’t stop talking about it to my husband…I hope he didn’t get sick of me! 🙂

Just the little tidbits of information, such as the stone jars that were used when Jesus turned the water into wine. It was fascinating to learn that if they were pottery, made by man’s hands, they would be unclean…but being stone jars, thus made by God, they were pure. This course has really enlightened me and gave me such a thirst and hunger to learn more! I would definitely recommend this to anyone who wants to learn about the ancient times and culture!

The lessons so far have been a blessing to me, i love the way Kay put it, ‘ No wrong, just different’. This teachings are true with the saying, when you get to Rome behave like the Rome. Learning of the culture and language of the people are also major lessons learnt.

The teachings on

– contextualization

– models of mission work

– Crossing Cultural stress

– Paul’s method

– Dealing with spiritual props etc.

With the knowledge I have gained from this course, I am better prepared for a mission work than before.

Thanks to Mrs Kay and the Axx team. You are doing a good work.

JESUS AS A KING

JESUS AND GOSPEL 2

JESUS AS A KING

Christians in the modern day do not worship Jesus as a King rather as a savior, most of our sermons and teachings has centered Jesus as a savior of sinners and a son of God who just loved us. His kingship is hardly mentioned or appreciated among many faithful’s.

In this write-up I will briefly try to trace the Kingship of Jesus from the Old Testament to New Testament, just to appreciate and bring to our attention His Kingship as stated in scriptures.

Kingship Foretold in the Old Testament

Reading the Old Testament we find prophecies that alludes to a king who will sit on the throne of King David and establish an everlasting Kingdom. His kingdom will be of peace and justice. Isaiah speaks of this King and how His Kingdom will look like. He tells us how the King will come about, that he will be born and then given to us as a son, He will have dominion (government) on his shoulder, that is, the responsibility of establishing and running of a Kingdom will be upon Him.

Isaiah then gives us the names of this King which are derived from the quality or the type of King He will be or how He will govern this Kingdom, He says that He will be called a wonderful counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father and Prince of peace, that the Kingdom will increase in peace and will have no end, it will be established on the throne of David, that is from the lineage or by the descendant of David. It will be uphold with justice and righteousness from that time and for evermore. He says that the passion of the Lord of Host will bring it to fruition. Isaiah 9:6-8

Daniel sees a vision where, with the clouds of heaven, came one like a son of man. He says this son of man came to the ancient of days and was presented before Him (before the ancient of days). The ancient of days gave him (the son of man) dominion (government), glory (majesty) and a kingdom (all that pertains to form a kingdom), all people (humanity), nations (countries or regions), and languages (tribes) to serve (submit to) him, that it shall be an everlasting government which shall never pass away, and that the kingdom shall never be destroyed. Daniel 7:13-14.

In these few passages we see a pronunciation by the Old Testament prophets to their generation that there would be a king who will come in future to establish a just, peaceful and a righteous kingdom. The king will be good, full of wonder from the lineage of David and that he will establish an everlasting kingdom on the throne of King David by the decree of the Lord of Host. Jeremiah speaks of the Lord raising up for David a righteous branch and a king that will reign and prosper, administer judgement and justice on earth. Jeremiah 23:5 (Logos Bible software, 2010)

Kingship Fulfilled in the New Testament

Yahweh in the book of Isaiah, speaking to Ahaz tells Ahaz to ask for a sign and make it deep or high but Ahaz refuses and says he will not put Yahweh to test. Yahweh then speak to the house of David and says the Lord will himself give a sign, that “a virgin is with a child and she is about to give birth to a son and she shall call his name God with us”. Isaiah 7:10-14.

This sign is fulfilled in the book of Matthew where after the birth of Jesus in Bethlehem of Judea, the wise men from the East came asking where is the one born King of the Jews, that they had seen the star when it arose and they have come to worship him. Matthew 2:1-2.

A question is then asked in the book of John 7:42, “don’t the scripture say Christ is a descendant of David and that he come from Bethlehem a village where David lived ?.

We have a speech In Micah 5:2 it says “As for you Bethlehem Ephrathah you are the least among the clan of Judah yet from you shall arise the King who will rule Israel on my behalf, one whose origin is from the distant past”. This words were quoted by the wise men to King Herod when he asked them where Christ is to be born in Bethlehem of Judea in the book of Matthew 2:6. With these few scriptures we can see that Jesus who is also Christ, is the one born in Bethlehem Ephrathah of Judea as King of the Jews to rule Israel, as confirmed by the wise men from the East who followed a star as a sign to come and worship (Submit to) Him.

The book of Revelation speaks of Jesus Christ as a faithful witness, the first-born from the dead and the ruler of Kings on earth (King of Kings), the one who loved us has made as a kingdom of priest to his God and Father, it says to him (Jesus) be the glory and power forever, Amen. Revelation 1:5-6. The subjects of His kingdom are the called, chosen and the faithful. His titles in His kingdom are the Lord of Lords, the King of Kings and the lamb who will conquer all. Revelation 17: 14.

Peter when speaking to the crowed that was perplexed with what was happening on the day of Pentecost, in his sermon, talks of David’s death and burial and tells them that before he died, David spoke of an oath that God had sworn to him, that he will seat one of his descendants on his throne, that David also spoke of the resurrection of Christ, and said “The Lord said to my Lord, Sit at my right hand, until I make your enemies a footstool for your feet”. Peter then tells the crowed that, this Jesus whom God has raised and which they were all a witness, has been exalted to the right hand of God. Acts 2:30-33

Paul writing to the Ephesians, tells them that it is his prayer that God may grant them spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him (God), so that they may know the hope of his calling, riches of his glory, his inheritance among saints, the surpassing greatness of his power to those who believe, according to his mighty strength which worked in raising Him (Christ) from the dead and seating Him (Christ) at the right hand in heavenly places, above all rule and authority and power, lordship, every name named not only in this age but also to the ages to come, and God has subjected all things under His (Christ) feet, gave him (Christ) as head over all things to the church (his body), and the fullness of the one (God) who fills all things in every way. Ephesians 1:18-23

Again we find Paul when advising Timothy to be of good and righteous character, mentioning the attributes of Jesus as a King and Lord, Paul tells Timothy to observe the commandment without a fault, irreproachable until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ, in which God in his own time will make known (Jesus Christ), the blessed and only sovereign, King of those who reign as kings, Lord of those who rule as lords, who alone possesses immortality, who lives in unapproachable light, whom no human being has seen nor is able to see, to whom be honor and eternal power. Amen. 1 Timothy 6:13-16

These few New Testament scriptures confirms Jesus Christ as the King who is, who was and who is to come and establish a Kingdom of righteousness on earth on the throne of David as a descendant of David. His kingdom will be an eternal kingdom, and that He will reign in heaven and on earth. Revelation speaks of Him coming back on earth as a king, it states “Behold, he is coming with the clouds and every eye will see him, even every one who pierced him, and all the tribe of the earth will mourn over him, Yes Amen. I am the alpha and Omega, says the Lord God, the one who is and the one who was and the one who is coming, the All-Powerful”. Revelation 1:7-8 (Logos Bible software, 2010)
