Acts - Reviews
introduction to the book of Acts
Occassion and purpose of the book. The church growth and triumph. Validity and meaning of gentile mission. Day of Pentecost , the descending of the Holy Spirit and speaking in different languages.. Peter’s sermon, response of the audience and baptism.. Trial of Peter and John, Stephen’s speech of death. Phillip and Saul and Saul’s early ministry.
Acts of the apostles Part 1
I am Apostle an apostle called an ordained by Jesus. This course is very amazing to me as it given more understandings of what the church was meant to be; the ministry and role of the apostles to the church and the community. How the church leads, functions and express itself.
I have now known the role of the holy spirit in the early church; it’s outpouring and anointing of witness and power.
It is now clear to me from the lectures what happened to Jesus and the implications with respect to his crucifixion – that that this was not a political plot or just an accident but part of God’s plan. That Jesus needed to suffer to bring us salvation in the world. It is now clear that Jesus that Jesus will come again in the same way as he ascended in the physical, he will return visibly on the same way.
Finally the apostles were being persecuted because the Jewish leaders saw themselves as the authority of the Jewish people and the apostles were acting as if they had independent authority.
Actually the course has fortified me for exploit. We glory to Jesus
BIGNNG OF THE CHURCH
This course has helped me to understand about the early christians history and the spread of church, from Jerusalem to Judeah, to Samaria and to the end of the world

Acts 2: Part2
The course has enriched me greatly for! Ministry. I have learnt and understood the following; thanks to this course and the brilliant lectures of the lecturers. That:
– God does show no partiality. Everyone who fears him and does what is right is acceptable by him. That we have to confident and know that God is moving today’s sovereignty to bring all people to salvation.
– when we hear the; voice of the holy spirit or receive a prophecy, we should not rush out and do something, but wait on God for more direction and wisdom, and ask him exactly what to do and when.
– People’s worldview will function to cause them to interpret events according to their existing belief system.
– On occasion, the holy spirit reveals direction to us through dreams and visions, but for most part, we may step out to both the right and the left to our own strength. We may sometimes receive no reply and sometimes a yes reply from the holy spirit.
– The scripture of Acts 20:17-24 provides an examplary example of a lifestyle/role model for ministers. And that we don’t have to be the captain, the owner or the perceived authority to be the leader in a situation (the story of the storm).

Churches and missionary journeys
Peter and Cornelius. The birth of the church in Antioch. The missionary journeys. Riot in Jerusalem. Paul’s arrest and his first defense. Paul’s second defense. His journey to Rome and the storm. Shipwreck and final arrival
THE MINISTRY OF PAUL
Learning the three missionary journeys of Apostle Paul has enlightened my faith and knowledge of the scriptures. For example, I only had knowledge that it is the pre-Christ (OT) types and shadows which only points to Christ and nothing of the Post-Resurrection of Christ could be a type and shadow of Christ. I drew this conclusion when the Lecturer Dr. Jon taught about the parallels of the Paul and Jesus. Most of what Apostle Paul went through, Jesus passed through as well. As David is viewed as a type of Christ, Apostle Paul also could be viewed as a type of Christ. Jesus’ ministry and message is about the Kingdom of God and Jesus Christ.
The missionary journeys have really broadened my knowledge on the book of Acts.
Many thanks to the College and the Lecturers.

Phenomenal teaching! Thank you!
Phenomenal teaching. Loved this sequence. I feel much stronger and equipped to lead. Thank you.
Leadership is about influencing people to change and making Disciples!
I found this course very informative, objective and concise. I liked that it goes beyond our understanding of the need to self-manage first and foremost, but that it shared important and specific information, so we, as leaders and emerging leaders can, demonstrate and use skills in, teaching, training, coaching and mentoring our team. I loved learning about leadership being all about influencing people to change, enlisting them to purpose and helping to establish a structure so that people can move forward towards their Jesus call in life, their goal of mission and strengthening their spiritual values. I loved to hear that biblical and authentic leadership is about the growth of others and leading them towards discipleship and spiritual change. Most importantly leadership is about responsibility. It stops with you. As Colossians 3:12 reads, ” 12 Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.” Continue to lead well. Thank you.
Seemed More "In Depth" Than Foundational, Which Was Good
I appreciated the focus on three specific roles in this class: First as Mentors, then as Coaches and then on Disciplers. It caused me to think about the kind of Mentor/Coach/Discipler Jesus was. His example is ALWAYS the best to pattern ourselves after, and this course kept bringing things back to Bible basics (2nd Timothy 2:2 as an example). I was glad that it felt like it went deeper than just an introductory or foundational level.

Introduction to Biblical Narrative
I found this subject very interesting. It was a lot to try to take in in the time. but it had made me want to study the Bible Indepth, more than I am already doing.
not impressed
the Assignments is not covered off in the videos accurately or deeply enough. the unit barely touches on the subject matter and i feel only brushes the surface of biblical narrative.
Doing Good and practicing this is essential in our day to day walk with Christ.
I have been trying to do this with God in my walk this year to develop in this area, I ask God to show me who he wants me to minister to today or send someone who needs to hear from you. Quite often He doe’s and it has been happening in various ways. I have been excited to explore this in more detail as I fundamentally think it will help in my daily walk with doing God’s will, but for personal growth and development as well as expanding my ability to outreach to many. Thank you for your ability to share about purposing / activating this in study and teaching format.

The Importance of Genre in Interpreting Scripture
In this module, l have come to understand that the bible is composed of various literary genres. Learning about these genres has given me insight into their unique purposes and how they communicate truth. For instance, Epistles are authoritative, one-sided letters that offer instruction, encouragement, and advice. Narratives use real-life stories to instruct and leave a lasting impression on the memory. Poetry, which makes up nearly half of the Old Testament, is emotionally rich and powerfully expressive. Wisdom literature emphasizes thoughtful reflection and guides us in how to respond to life’s complexities. Recognizing these forms of genres deepens our understanding and application of Scripture.
Balancing Background, Context, and Genre in Biblical Interpretation
In this module, I learned that effective interpretation of Scripture requires a sound understanding of its historical and cultural background, while being careful not to let the background overshadow the actual meaning of the text. Both contextual and literary contexts are crucial in uncovering the original intent of the passage. Grasping the importance of avoiding allegorizing, topologizing, or over-spiritualizing the text unless the context clearly supports such an interpretation. These principles help ensure that our application of Scripture is accurate and specific. Additionally, understanding the different biblical genres is essential, as each genre guides and shapes how we interpret and apply a given passage.
Interpretation of the scripture
In this module, I learned that pre-understanding or presuppositions could distort our interpretation of Scripture, potentially leading us away from its true meaning. Therefore, it is essential to approach the Bible with openness, allowing the text to speak for itself. Proper interpretation begins with understanding the original context and then applying the meaning through the “principalizing bridge” to our present time. The goal is to discover the meaning God has already placed in the text, rather than imposing our own ideas onto it. Additionally, we were encouraged to read the Bible attentively—not skim it—by looking for patterns such as repetition, contrasts, comparisons, cause and effect, and by reading in context. This involves moving from general to specific and vice versa, and paying attention to questions and answers within the passage.

Jesus. Kingdom. Gospel: Part 1
Jesus’ Kingdom” refers to the reign or rule of God, as taught and demonstrated by Jesus. It’s a central theme in the Gospels, often described as a present reality and a future hope, characterized by righteousness, peace, and joy. Jesus’ teachings about the kingdom emphasize its transformative power, both individually and collectively, and its implications for how believers live in the world.
God’s Reign:
The kingdom of God is fundamentally about God’s sovereign rule and authority. It’s not a physical territory, but a spiritual reality where God’s will is done.
Present and Future:
Jesus proclaimed that the kingdom of God had already come in his ministry, yet it also has a future consummation. His parables often illustrate this dual aspect.
Transformation:
Entering the kingdom of God requires a radical change of heart and life, turning away from sin and embracing God’s values. This transformation is both an individual experience and a societal impact.
Emphasis on Love and Justice:
The kingdom of God is characterized by love, compassion, and justice, challenging believers to live out these values in their relationships and actions.
Community:
The kingdom is not just an individual experience but also a community of believers who support and encourage one another in their faith.
Contrasting with Earthly Kingdoms:
Jesus’ kingdom contrasts with earthly kingdoms built on power, domination, and self-interest, highlighting the values of humility, service, and self-sacrifice.
In essence, the kingdom of God, as taught by Jesus, is a call to align one’s life with God’s will, experiencing transformation in the present and anticipating its full manifestation in the future, marked by love, justice, and peace.

It has been a most remarkable journey, one that I strongly encourage others to take. The faculty and staff at Axx are wonderful. Each loves God deeply, and this love is reflected in their selfless giving to their students. I am so thankful to our Lord, to Professor Amosh Yong and to Dr. John, and to the entire faculty and staff at Axx for playing a major role in helping me to become more like Jesus Christ. There is nothing I desire more and, in my opinion, nothing more to be desired.

Growing & Serving the Lord
By following this course I have understood how powerful you can become when you operate in the spirit as it’s all about how the Holy Spirit inspire us, encourage us and give us boldness to teach the word and prepare people to accept Christ Jesus as their Lord and Saviour. It proves that only the intellectual or academic knowledge is insufficient to win a soul to God’s Kingdom.
Apart from serving in the Worship Ministry at Restore Church, I have been able to say ‘yes’ to help in the Sunday School as a teacher-assistant to little kids (Lamp Lighters). Also with other church members during Christmas time I visit few aged care facilities to sing carols, share the word and distribute gifts and enjoy the time with them in the Lord. It gives me joy in sharing my faith with them. Learning this course has been a tremendous blessing and I will share my knowledge giving all glory to God.
Power of the Holy Spirit
This has been a wonderful unit as I have learnt so much about the workings and power of the Holy Spirit. It was amazing to see Him as a person yet to be the third person in the Holy Trinity – ie. the Father, Son and Holy Spirit as one God. Although I have been a Christian for a long time it was great the hear this teaching.
Theology of God - so much to learn!
Wow, what an amazing unit of study. The units on the heresies was so interesting, I had never heard of them before. I can understand how some people would believe in these, but the Christian Orthodox view just blows them out of the water! The way Jeremy explained the Trinity was exceptional. His passion to share the truth about the Trinity and God as three persons was so engaging. Attributes of the deity and prerogatives of the deity was explained so well and made perfect sense. Again I had never heard of these terms before. Great teaching Jeremy, thank you.

Great
This course is so easy to take in and understand. It’s a wonderful opportunity for me to have access to this style of learning for an older person like me.
Learning of God daily
Having completed the module “Theology of Humanity” it’s exciting and waiting to commence the next module “Ministry in the Spirit”. My understanding and knowledge about the things of God is daily increasing. It seems like there’s never ending of learning of the scriptures which is inspiring and transforming my life in every aspect. What we learn here is truly preparing us to share the Word with non-believers more effectively.
There were two topics in which I was elvated to another level of understanding in the more practical sense. The topics were “Suffering & Forgiveness” and “Women in Ministry”. I thank God and Axx Bible College Team for your time and effort committed and for this opportunity you have given us.
Perspective
My perspective of biblical verses, ideologies and beliefs has changed and is slowly transforming as i delve deeper into the word.

Giving is the highest expression of God's love - 1 John 3:16-18
I am immensely grateful for the expository study on the theology of worship of our God. I agree with all the definitions of worship, which were so well explained based on biblical theology in both the Old and the New Testament. True worship is expressed by the act of bowing down in total reverence and acknowledgment of God’s sovereignty and majesty as the Supreme Creator of all things, visible and invisible, thrones, dominions, powers, and principalities (Genesis 1:1 cf. John 1:1:3; Col 1:16), who upholds and maintains all things “by the word of his power” (Hebrews 1:3). However, worship as an act of gratitude, love and devotion to God, must be expressed by palpable love through good works for the benefit of our fellow human beings. The greatest expression of love is evidenced by the act of giving, of giving first to God as a living sacrificial offering to God and others (2 Corinthians 8:1-5; cf. 1 John 3:16-18). Thank you so much, dear Professor Tex Houston, for this edifying biblical exposition on worship.
